Crafting Musical Excellence, Connecting Communities
we believe in the transformative power of music
Where Music Learning Actually Works
For nearly 30 years, we’ve been the bridge between passionate music teachers and students who want to actually enjoy learning music together. No stuffy conservatory attitudes. No one-size-fits-all methods. Just personal connections and solid pedagogy that make music come alive.
Here’s the thing about music education—it shouldn’t feel like pulling teeth. Whether you’re a parent hoping your kid sticks with violin past month three, or an adult finally pursuing that guitar dream, we get it. You want progress without the pressure.
CYM connects eager music students with inspiring teachers and mentors who are breaking ground in their fields and creating tangible reasons for you to practice and contribute.

It’s Working
We’ve placed hundreds of students with exceptional teachers. Our community contributions span 50+ organizations—from children’s hospitals to senior centers to universities —because we believe music’s holistic benefits belong everywhere.
How We Started (The Short Version)
Back in 1992, we had a simple idea: what if music education focused on the student’s learning process instead of rigid tradition? We started small in Wexford, PA, with a handful of teachers who believed studying music should be joyful, not stressful.
That little idea grew into something bigger—a national network of students, educators, researchers, and organizations who study music and advocate for its use in helping people.
Where We’re Headed
Music has this incredible ability to heal, connect, and transform lives. We’re not just teaching scales and songs—we’re building a community where musicians develop the skills to present their talent through service, and where organizations make direct connections with music lovers. As we look forward, we remain committed to nurturing the next generation of musicians and philanthropists, advancing positive causes in the broader community.
Want to find out who is using the music of Chopin to calm elephants and how Bach makes plants grow? How singing improves memory and also increases blood flow to damaged heart valves? How music lessons can teach kids how to learn – everything (else) they need to know? Want to reach new contributors for your non-profit or take up the cello – nail “Happy Birthday” for your mom? There’s a place for you here!
