CYM Tip: Attendance

Students perform well and enjoy their studies more when motivated and relaxed: consistent attendance relates directly to improved skill.” – CYM Community Guide

Are you going out of town for a holiday or taking a break from the routine to host family? Maybe you want to increase the number of lessons you take over the next couple of weeks by scheduling make-ups. At CYM students and teachers manage their own schedules, continuing lessons without long interruptions. Regardless of schooling type or district location, your family’s activities remain central as you study with us, from week to week, season to season, from year to year. Enrolled students have a reserved lesson time and arrange 45 lessons between August and July. Students who are not enrolled, self-serve from the web site once lesson times are available on a teacher’s schedule. If you would like to change status and enroll in your teacher’s studio, please call.

Our experience has shown that regular attendance optimizes student’s progress and enjoyment, and also develops focus and a willingness to participate. A quiet and disciplined frame of mind is one of the many benefits of studying music every day and at CYM you can easily develop this aspect. For instrumental students, regular attendance at both individual lessons and group classes promotes mastery of and advancement in the repertoire. And steady presence at weekly lessons allows students to show their best efforts during public performances.

Just as an aside, your teacher will wait 15 minutes before the lesson is considered a “no show” (after which time the lesson will not be made up) and you can expect them to be a good model by keeping their own absences to a minimum. If you have any questions about make-ups, talk with your teacher. If you need assistance with the lesson schedule, please contact us and we will show you how easy it is to manage (724-935-0505 or info@youngmusicians.org) and thank you for being a student at CYM!
