Unique Opportunity This Saturday
| YOU are invited to perform! We are proud to announce that Maria Constantine, Piano Faculty, will lead a very special Community Concert on Saturday, April 30th in Sewickley from 1 – 2pm. CYM students and Maria’s school colleagues from Duquesne University, will perform on the same program that afternoon, and afterward, Maria will lead a discussion based on questions gathered ahead of the session from CYM parents and students; the college student panel will answer the queries, sharing ideas and experiences. Topics will orient around developing “best practice” habits as a musician, and present solutions that can be used at time over the course of your music education. So far, submitted Q&A topic requests include the following: 1. tips for ways to improve playing efficiently when practice time is especially fleeting, 2. ways to stay calm down during performance, audition, or interview, 3. anecdotes that can lessen the parent/child power struggle around keeping kids involved in lessons, 4. most unusual/memorable performances or performance spaces… We welcome your questions and ideas to present to the panel! Maria Constantine is the President of Duquesne University’s Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Collegiate Chapter. MTNA is an organization that supports private studio music teachers by providing educational resources, cultivating a community that helps teachers grow on a local and national level, and promoting competitions to help students grow and learn. At the collegiate level, MTNA provides seminars to help students start their own private teaching studios and develop their unique teaching style. Each Duquesne University musician preparing for the event, comes from a different musical background, and represents a different academic major or instrument. We hope you will sign up for this fun performance opportunity and take advantage of being able to meet other capable young people like yourselves. Ms. Maria’s music friends can’t wait to hear what you love about or want to know about our shared language! Go to the Craft Your Music Calendar for your ticket. |
