Friday Face 4/30!

It’s time for Friday Face! This week, we are celebrating the career of Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate! Mr. Tate is a Chickasaw pianist and composer. His works have been performed by numerous major orchestras including Washington, DC; San Francisco, Detroit, Minneapolis, and other major metropolitan areas. Mr. Tate’s Iholba’ was also the first Chickasaw/Native American work to have ever been sung by the San Francisco Symphony Chorus. He is also the founder and artistic director of the Chickasaw Chamber Music Festival and co-founder/composition instructor for the Chickasaw Summer Arts Academy.

Tate attended Northwestern University and achieved his Bachelor of Music while studying with Dr. Donald Isaak and his Master of Music in Piano Performance and Composition from The Cleveland Institute of Music. While there, he studied with Elizabeth Pastor and Dr. Donald Erb. In addition to all of Tate’s other accomplishments, he has also performed as First Keyboard on the Broadway national tours of Les Misérables and Miss Saigon and been a guest pianist and accompanist for the Colorado Ballet, Hartford Ballet and numerous ballet and dance companies.
