Musikgarten Babies Move!

The Family Music for Babies Course this season had parents moving, singing, dancing and connecting with their little ones. We saw so much growth over the 15 weeks. When we began, they were all so tiny- but what we know about babies and music is that they absorb music like a language. So our fun activities were continually building a foundation of the music language for each babe in arms. Over time the smiles and squeals were more and more apparent as we repeated favorites in their growing repertoire of bouncing and instrument songs. By the end of the 15 weeks, our two oldest babies were just beginning to echo back the tonal and rhythm patterns! One mom remarked that her baby had been randomly producing the rhythm patterns on her own throughout the week. What a delight to see the language unfold. Watching these babies begin to play the rhythm sticks and shakers was delightful. Scarves were a hit throughout the semester, which actually brought some of the best social interactions! These older babies are in a perfect place, developmentally, to join the Family Music for Toddlers that comes up next, where they will build on the patterns, begin to participate on their own, develop listening skills, and most importantly – move!
