Sunday Starts May Practice Challenge
What’s to gain by practicing your instrument each day for 30 minutes or longer, for a month? Stamina and measurable progress. “Practice puts brains in your muscles”, says Sam Snead. Take it from anyone who has excelled in their chosen field, if advancement is sought, there is no replacement for “time in” the proverbial practice room. CYM’s monthly challenges give structure and a sense of fun that helps students build strength and correct habits over the short term. Participation will make your ability to focus during more prolonged work sessions (or the 200 Day Challenge), much more likely. And it will be easy for you to see how your new level of physical and mental strength relate directly to immediate enjoyment and observable improvement!
At CYM, three months of the year are designated as Practice Challenge months: May, October, and February. Why not see how many days you can string together in a row, while practicing technical and theoretical assignments every day for the length of your lesson? CYM Practice Challenge Calendars are used to track the days, and each week your teacher acknowledges your work. Once successful, you will be recognized with a special medal at our monthly recital, or your group class or lesson. The next 31 day challenge provides an opportunity to organize towards desired changes and enjoy the camaraderie of other winners once the challenge is met. Which of your music friends or siblings are going to take the challenge with you?
Here is the official CYM Practice Challenge Chart for May 2022. Good luck!
