Fun With Suzuki Friends
The Greater Pittsburgh Suzuki Institute’s Musical Spring Fling! is coming your way! This community building event will be held at the Rhododendron Shelter in Highland Park on Saturday, May 13 and includes an afternoon/evening of musical fun for local Suzuki families. CYM students who are candidates for the Young Artist – Ambassador can assist at this event (whether they study Suzuki method or not) to meet one of the requirements for certification. The event begins at 3:00 pm – check out the lineup here:
3:00pm Suzuki – Style Play-ins for various instruments – Pianists will play in the shelter and the cellos, flutes, guitars, violins and violas will play out on the lawns around the shelter. In case of rain, we will all “jam” into the shelter and take turns – the event will be held rain or shine!
4:00pm Circus Arts Class – O’Ryan the O’Mazing will work with the kids on juggling, plate-spinning, and other fun circus skills. There will also be face-painting, a story teller, bubble wands and other activities going on simultaneously.
5:00pm Jam Session for Everyone Together – Accompaniment parts for various instruments will be provided for some to play Suzuki tunes as a big group – others will play in unison. The parts will be distributed in advance so teachers can work with kids to help them feel able to participate. There will be 3 keyboards there to accommodate multiple pianists. At the previous outdoor workshop, the jam session was wildly popular!
