A Lovely Sunday Afternoon at the Edgeworth Club

Eleven students, violinists, violists and guitarists, performed classical and holiday repertoire in the beautiful Edgeworth Club on Sunday, December 19. The performances ranged from a young students first ever performance (the Open A Concerto) to an experienced performance of the Romanian Dances by Bartok. The concert ended with an arrangement by Mr. Chris Sforza of Bring a Torch, Jeanette Isabelle for two violins, performed by Ms. Leah and Mr. Chris. The act of performing brings together the instrumental and technical skills worked on in lessons such as focus, intonation, memory and musicality. For many of the students performing this was the first time they had been able to play their instruments for a live audience in almost two years and all those skills were on display! There was a large audience of family and friends who were able to enjoy the musical accomplishments of the eleven students. One parent commented, “It feels so good to be able to hear the kids play together – live!” Another parent said, “This space was perfect for the concert, my child was really comfortable performing here today, thank you.” One student offered, “I was nervous but I did it!” And another student said, “Tre’s piece was cool.” Thanks to all for participating: Trey, guitar – Jingle Bells, Ho-Oh’s Revenge, Silia, violin – Open E and A Concertos, McKenzie viola – Twinkle Variation A, Twinkle Theme, Avi, violin – Long Long Ago, Silent Night, Melina, violin – Etude, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Sylvia, violin – Jingle Bells, Aidan, violin – Witches Dance, Deck the Halls , Sophie, violin – Boccherini Minuet, Silent Night, Luke, violin – Gavotte in g minor, Jingle Bells, Liam, violin – Martini Gavotte, Deck the Halls, Alena, violin – Romanian Dances by Bartok, d minor Sarabande and Gigue by Bach, and lastly, Chris Sforza, viola and Leah Givelber, violin – Bring A Torch Jeannette.
