Parent Session: 101 Ways to Make Practice Fun
His trove of “101 Ways” is worth its weight in teaching gold! This month, faculty member Mark Marston will show you how you can perform repetitive tasks in home practice, more enjoyably. Offered several times by Mark over the last two decades, this session demonstrates that making immediate and sought after improvements in instrumental technique, is not out of reach for any of us! Often we face a challenging musical bit that does not look easy or appealing to address, yet it must be “chunked” and repeated many times to master. More essential than any list of games could be useful, Mark models the spirit behind seemingly arduous drills, and shows how to present them in a way that will bring out your best (and your child’s most cooperative) attitude. If you are a parent who oversees a young person’s practice at home, you are invited to attend – and share ideas too! The session will take place via Zoom, on Saturday, February 26 at 12:00 noon.
