Holiday Community Concert
Sixteen student performers delighted audience members at the December 18th Holiday Community Concert! Since the recital date was scheduled right before winter break, it truly felt like the “last hoo-rah” for the year. Students enjoyed getting to wrap-up 2021 with a festive concert, and one young student left the performance space saying “When can I perform again?!” Family and friends showed great enthusiasm for everyone’s hard work. One parent said, “We really appreciate this opportunity to play and for all of your attention.” Faculty members were in attendance to support their students with encouraging words – “You played well and I can help you smooth out the parts you were not as comfortable with – let’s work on it next week!” The students were all very involved in the process of picking out what pieces would be fitting for the concert. Holiday favorites such as Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy, Winter Wonderland, and Away in a Manger were interspersed with classical favorites such as Summer Afternoon by Bober and Prelude VI by Arens. One set of parents stated, “It is wonderful to be together again in this performance today. Our child will be going to college next year and we have been reflecting on all of the years and recitals we have attended here. We have really loved it and learned so much.” Thank you to all who attended to support the students, and congratulations to the performers on all of your preparation and beautiful playing!
