What are you really looking for when you Google “music lessons in my area”? Ratings? Convenience? Affordability? Fun? As those aspects mean a variety of things to different people, you might wonder what you can count on from CYM. To cut to the quick, you’ll have monthly opportunities to show what you know and share what you love, a foundational curricula, and excellent teachers – all of the ingredients needed to learn the language of music, and to use it often and with ease.
Musical Community Service. For those who join CYM through membership, service can be central to your experience with music, regardless of where your teacher gives instruction. We organize audiences every month for students who are committed to presenting solo and chamber works in performance, to uplift and strengthen the community. Go to Craft Your Music to find your age appropriate group under “Register for Your Membership”. Craft Memberships are for families who want their investment in music education to amount to more than a box checked. Yes, we want our kid to make friends with others who regularly test what they think they have learned in the lesson room; yet we also want to be part of a group of people who “do good” – and for kids to develop generous hearts.
Foundational Curricula. Center for Young Musicians features Musikgarten, which lays the groundwork for success on any instrument. For example, Music Makers: At the Keyboard, Year One, introduces small groups of young beginners (ages 6 – 8) and ensures success on the piano by using an aural approach to learning to read. The class fosters excitement and pride in making music both independently and with others.
MMK, Year Two introduces much loved piano literature, develops comprehensive musicianship at the keyboard, and continues to refine body control and ear tuning. Musikgarten offers unrivaled music literacy training and we hope you will consider joining one of the courses. Though both course levels have already begun, please call to join – tuition can be prorated.
Excellent Teachers. The CYM Faculty make sure students progress – skill review and development, practice challenges and graduation recitals, and monthly community service performances are their focus. Craft Associate Instructors run their own studios so you can choose from a variety of approaches and expectations. Music lessons are for everyone, whether your kid identifies as sporty or artsy, a cool kid or a science nerd. There are many good reasons to take up the language, and these are featured at CYM:
