Musikgarten: Music Makers at The Keyboard Begins 9.9 and 11
If you are thinking about music study you might just go straight for individual instruction. Depending on the student’s maturity and teacher’s expertise, that choice could set your child up for a lonely start. For some, there is very little “play” in learning an instrument that is initially taught one on one.
Musikgarten on the other hand, is a foundational curricula taught to groups of young beginners. Musikgarten is effective because it fosters excitement and pride in students as they make music – both independently and with others – right from the beginning.
CYM features Musikgarten’s Music Makers: At the Keyboard which lays the groundwork for success on any instrument as it conditions a young person to want to commit to individual instruction. It was created for students who expect to enjoy their lessons week after week, and be motivated to do their best by learning with others.
The Music Makers: At The Keyboard recordings includes special tracks for practice each week. Notation games, repertoire and sight-reading pieces, and additional class materials inspire kids to vocalize, compose, and share their creations, keeping them stoked about the piano.
In MMK Year One ability is built through songs children know already, and/or easily come to love. The aural and kinesthetic (i.e. fun) approach of accumulating music literacy skills provides a natural pathway to learning to read music. You will be inspired by what your child will be able to sing, play, decode, and improvise – just within the first season of lessons. Complete MMK Year One in three, 10 week sessions – serious work that’s kid-lively!
MMK Year Two introduces many revered composers and the piano literature they have contributed. In the second year of study, students develop musicianship and beginning technical skills, and they refine body control and ear tuning. The course continues to construct that foundation you want for life-long instrument playing, whether you stick with the piano, switch to sing in the chorus, or choose a band or orchestral instrument. Complete MMK Year Two in three, 10 week sessions; you will have a lot to show for it once you do – close music friends, a solid understanding of the language, facility at the piano, and a great attitude about daily practice!
